DONMAR WAREHOUSE - THE SAME DEEP WATER AS ME UPDATE

THE SAME DEEP WATER AS ME will recommence as of tomorrow i.e. Thursday 22nd August 2013 at 2.30pm (matinee).

Statement from The Donmar Warehouse:

WE HAVE HAD TO CANCEL A NUMBER OF PERFORMANCES OF THE SAME DEEP WATER AS ME, UP TO AND INCLUDING THE EVENING PERFORMANCE ON WEDNESDAY 21 AUGUST. THIS IS DUE TO DANIEL MAYS (PLAYING ANDREW EAGLEMAN) BEING INCAPACITATED BY AN INJURY. WE ARE CONFIDENT THAT DANIEL WILL MAKE A SPEEDY RECOVERY AND WE ARE MONITORING HIS PROGRESS ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS. IN THE MEANTIME WE ARE REHEARSING IN ANOTHER ACTOR TO COVER THE ROLE AND PERFORMANCES ARE DUE TO RECOMMENCE AT 2:30PM ON THURSDAY 22 AUGUST. ALL AFFECTED PATRONS WILL BE CONTACTED BY THE ATG BOX OFFICE AND HAVE THE VALUE OF THEIR TICKETS AUTOMATICALLY REFUNDED. WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK OUR PATRONS FOR THEIR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.

The New York Times review:

"...Of the no less expert men, Mr. Wootton places himself amid the ongoing ranks of British actors whose gifts lie in making us believe that they absolutely are the people they are playing — in this case down to Kevin’s fondness for bling and his over-ardent swagger.

So real is his performance that when the company took their opening night bows, it came as mildly disconcerting to see Mr. Wootton among them. By that point I had long expected Kevin to have quit town, and that — trust me — is meant as a compliment."

MARC WOOTTON AS KEVIN NEEDLEMAN THE SAME DEEP WATER AS ME PRODUCTION PHOTOS/PRESS NIGHT

Last night (6 August 2013) saw the PRESS NIGHT for Nick Payne's THE SAME DEEP WATER AS ME.

Today's reviews include 4* from THE GUARDIAN : "...There are also immaculate performances from Daniel Mays as the nervy, quixotic Andrew, Nigel Lindsay as the life-bruised Barry, Marc Wootton as the thuggish claimant..." Michael Billington.

The Evening Standard also 4* "...Along comes Andrew’s old schoolmate Kevin (the excellent Marc Wootton). He cooks up a cheap scam. At first it seems a laughable project, yet it pays off — until a well-known retailer takes exception." Henry Hitchings
